Investigation Launched into ICC Prosecutor's Conduct

The Association of State Parties to the International Criminal Court stated on Monday that it plans to conduct an "external investigation" regarding allegations against the proposed misconduct of the Prosecutor General of the Court, Karim Khan, who denies these allegations.

"I uphold all my other obligations as the Prosecutor General in cooperation with my full authority in the areas that the International Criminal Court is engaged in," he said in the statement.

The Chair of the Association of State Parties, Paivi Kokkaranta, emphasized that conducting an external investigation is necessary "to ensure the integrity of an independent, neutral, and fair process."

Karim Khan categorically defends the independence of the office of the Prosecutor General of the International Criminal Court and prejudges the development of any actions that could undermine this independence.

"I am very pleased with the possibility of conducting the investigation," the 54-year-old Briton emphasized.
